Harry Potter's World: Renaissance, Science, Magic, and Medicine
Harry Potter's World: Renaissance, Science, Magic, and Medicine explores the world of Harry Potter and its roots in Renaissance magic, science, and medicine. In 1997, British author J.K. Rowling introduced the world to Harry Potter and a literary phenomenon was born. Although a fantasy story, the magic in the Harry Potter books is partially based on Renaissance traditions which played an important role in the development of Western science and medicine. An exhibition created by the National Library of Medicine, Harry Potter's World highlights collections of the History of Medicine Division, National Library of Medicine.
The Charles W. & Joan S. Coker Library will be hosting the traveling exhibition from September 18 to November 5, 2011. Be sure to come in and check it out. For more information about the exhibit click on Harry Potter's World: Renaissance, Science, Magic, and Medicine
